Jordan & Nate
Nate and I are high school sweethearts; we practically grew up with each other. In the 7 years we dated before getting married, we became adults and shared so many "first" experiences.
As two people who both come from blended families, we have experienced our fair share of parents with multiple divorces, step-parents, step- and half-siblings, family members with different last names, etc. We both had people in our lives who'd given us a "warning," or assumed our stories would eventually mirror our parents'. Because of the very real reality of divorce we both know too well, we wanted to do everything we could to set ourselves up for success in our marriage.
When given the opportunity to meet with Mike and Kristine for premarital education and coaching we couldn't say yes fast enough. The idea that two people, who have been through the trenches of marriage and family dynamics, are now using their experiences to coach others to success was (and is) so exciting! And to be honest, we experienced nothing less. With Mike and Kristine the conversations were easy. They made us feel comfortable with the vulnerability of hard topics. They provoked us to think about things from new perspectives, offered feedback, and even gave us the opportunity to ask hard questions. We were able to learn about and practice skills for communication, which we have found to be the most important tool in our marriage. To this day we reference some of the discussions we had in session and remind each other what "Mike and Kristine said."
I am so grateful for Mike and Kristine- their honesty, vulnerability, and genuine care for us. We just celebrated 3 years of marriage and will soon be celebrating our daughter's 1st birthday, and they've been a continuous source of encouragement and support through it all.
